Middle school: post-tests reveal prevention efforts work
Highlights of Year 2 programming evaluations for middle school students (grades 7-9) also showed encouraging results. Curricula for this group included Life Skills Training and Word of Mouth.

Middle School Findings
- 74% never used tobacco (no change pre- and post-testing).
- No increase in the frequency or quantity of smoking.
- Down: days they smoked or used smokeless tobacco in the previous month.
- Up: greater social disapproval for smoking.
- 5% more students practicing smoking resistance skills.

Program parameters: There were 622 participants; 95% completed surveys. The average age was 13. The respondents were 74% white, 53% female, 54% in grades 7-8.
