Funding: Alliance Receives $825,318 Grant Tobacco control programming in Northwest Ohio will continue through 2007 thanks to a $825,318 grant awarded to the Northwest Ohio Strategic Alliance for Tobacco Control by the Ohio Tobacco Prevention Foundation (OTPF). The funds will allow the Alliance and its sub-grantees to further pursue tobacco control programming throughout northwestern Ohio. Some of the most important projects being funded with this year’s grant money involve sub-grantees who are working on 100% tobacco-free policies for schools and worksites. Today, more and more educational institutions and workplaces are going smoke-and tobacco-free, and not just inside buildings, but campus-wide. (See the commitment story in this newsletter for proof!) In addition, the 2007 grant will fund adult cessation programs, a new target area for the Alliance, and ongoing tobacco control efforts, including youth prevention and promotion of the Ohio Tobacco Quit Line, 1 800-QUIT-NOW. Sub-grantees: Fund Recipients for 2007 American Lung Association
