Opportunity: 2007 Grant Cycle Request for Proposals
Funding opportunities continue! The Alliance is applying for a minimum of $1,250,000 from the Ohio Tobacco Prevention Foundation (OTPF) to continue tobacco control programming in Northwest Ohio through 2007. This 12-month community grant will begin on Jan. 1, 2007, with work to be completed by Dec. 31, 2007.
Eligible applicants that were considered sub-grantees included any organization in Northwest Ohio that is a member of the Alliance and located in our expanded service area. Our area now includes Mercer and Van Wert counties as well as Allen, Auglaize, Defiance, Erie, Fulton, Hancock, Henry, Huron, Lucas, Ottawa, Putnam, Sandusky, Seneca, Williams, Wood and Wyandot. Proposals from applicants interested in being part of the Alliance proposal had to be submitted by August 28, and those that were complete and met the goals of the Alliance were included in the Alliance proposal which was due September 12.
County allocations are decided using a funding formula based on demographics – rural versus urban – and diversity. Should a county not submit a request proposal, its funding will be shared equally between the other counties. If funded, the Alliance will receive a Notice of Award in November 2006. Sub-grantees will be notified within one week after receipt of the award.
These are closed-competitive grants for programs that support the priorities of the Northwest Ohio Strategic Alliance for Tobacco Control: preventing tobacco use initiation, reducing adult tobacco consumption, and reducing youth tobacco consumption, and reducing use among pregnant women.
